DC Shoes Is Reportedly Dropping Rob Dyrdek

What is DC Shoes?

DC Shoes is an American company that specializes in footwear for action sports, including skateboarding and snowboarding. The company also manufactures apparel, bags, accessories, hats, shirts, and posters.

Earlier this week, Shop Eat Surf broke the news that DC Shoes has ended its 20-plus year relationship with Rob Dyrdek. Rob was one of the original riders for the iconic brand, and received his first pro-model shoe in 1995—which was the third signature shoe that DC produced after launching models for the brand’s founders, Danny Way and Colin McKay. Since his rise to celebrity through his hit MTV shows Rob & Big, Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, andRidiculousness—Dyrdek has effectively become the face of the brand. He has had 29 signature shoes with DC during his tenure there.

DC’s parent company, Quicksilver, filed for bankruptcy in September, 2015—and officially rejected Dyrdek’s contract late last week. While there has been no official announcement from DC, Rob’s image and bio are no longer present on the DC team page. Given their long history together, this is certainly the end of an era for both Rob and DC Shoes. According to Shop Eat Surf, DC plans on announcing new riders soon. There’s currently no word on what Rob plans for the future in terms of shoes or apparel—but given his resources and celebrity, I’m sure something will manifest in the near future.
